Translation
Treats a taeyang and yangmyeong combination disease, alternate-day malaria with much heat and little cold. Gypsum and anemarrhena, 3 don each; scutellaria, 2 don; cinnamon twig, 1 don. Cut up, make one packet, and decoct in water and take it. — Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Haehak)
Clinical commentary 臨床
The same taeyang and yangmyeong combination as Gyejijakyak-tang, but set for the malaria that comes every other day with far more heat than cold, and the arithmetic shifts accordingly. Gypsum and anemarrhena go up to 3 don, scutellaria holds at 2, cinnamon twig stays at 1, and red peony drops out altogether. Read beside its neighbours this is the clearest statement in the chapter that the single don of cinnamon twig is a fixed quantity and the cold drugs are the variable. The Bogam adjusts the heat-clearing weight to the heat in front of it and leaves the surface dose alone — which is also why four plain drugs can carry the indication without any harmonizing ginger or dates. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
