Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治鼻塞爲齆. 芎藭ㆍ檳榔ㆍ麻黃ㆍ肉桂ㆍ防己ㆍ木通ㆍ細辛ㆍ白芷ㆍ菖蒲 各七分, 木香ㆍ川椒ㆍ甘草 各三分半. 右剉, 作一貼, 入薑 三片, 紫蘇葉 五片, 水煎服. 《直指》

Translation

Treats a blocked nose that has become nasal congestion. Chuanxiong, areca, ephedra, cinnamon, stephania, akebia, asarum, angelica dahurica and acorus 7 pun each; costus, Sichuan pepper and licorice 3 pun 5 ri each. Cut up, make one packet, add 3 slices of ginger and 5 perilla leaves, decoct in water and take. — Jikji 直指 (Donguibogam · Bi)

Clinical commentary 臨床

齆 is the nasal voice of a nose stopped for good — 9.8 puts it down to cold fluids stagnating where the nose qi should diffuse. Acorus and akebia to open the orifice, the rest to warm and move. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
