Translation

Treats water-rheum halting and pouring into the channels, breaking out as arm pain. Cnidium, pinellia, red poria, aralia, aged tangerine peel, and bitter orange 1 don each; white atractylodes and licorice 0.5 don each. Cut the above, make one packet, add 5 slices of ginger, decoct in water and take. — Deukhyo 得效 (Donguibogam · Su)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Essentially Ijin-tang with cnidium and aralia added to carry the action into the limb and bitter orange to move the Qi that the fluid has stalled. The decoction form makes this the acute counterpart to the pill formulas above — reach for it when the arm pain is recent and the fluid sign is fresh, and switch to Sodambokryeong-hwan or Gagambokryeong-hwan when it has settled into a chronic pattern. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
