Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治白帶久不止, 臍腹冷痛. 乾薑四兩, 龍骨ㆍ當歸各二兩, 柴胡ㆍ白石脂各一兩, 黃柏ㆍ白芍藥各五錢. 右爲末, 麪糊和丸梧子大, 白湯下二三十丸, 以飯壓下. 《入門》

Translation

Treats white discharge long unceasing, with cold pain of the navel and abdomen. Dried ginger 4 nyang; dragon bone and Korean angelica, 2 nyang each; bupleurum and white halloysite, 1 nyang each; phellodendron and white peony, 5 don each. Powder the above and bind with a wheat paste into pills the size of parasol-tree seeds; take 20–30 pills with plain boiled water, pressing it down afterward with rice. — Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Po)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Four ounces of dried ginger leading, with dragon bone and white halloysite to bind — a formula for the discharge that has gone on so long the ground beneath it has turned cold. The two small cooling herbs at the end are the interesting part: even in a frankly cold pattern, the formulary keeps a measure of phellodendron in, on the principle that a discharge dammed with pure heat will simply be dammed. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
