Translation

Treats qi dysentery with a stool like crab froth. Chebula rind, tangerine peel and magnolia bark, 1 nyang each. Powder, make honey pills the size of a paulownia seed, and take thirty on an empty stomach in rice water. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Daebyeon)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Like crab froth is the chapter's description of a frothy mucous stool, and it names the thing exactly — bubbles in the stool from gas worked through mucus. The formula is three drugs that move qi and bind, with nothing cold in it, because the sign is read as movement rather than heat. For the functional bowel complaint this most likely describes, it is a sensible prescription. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
