Translation

Treats the yin-yang exchange disease; it must be sweated quickly, for once four full days have passed it cannot be treated. Dried ginger, 3 don, cut up and decocted in water. Once sweat comes out and the hands and feet straighten, the patient is cured. — Deukhyo 得效 ○ Another method: powder 1 nyang of dried ginger, take stirred into warm water, cover with bedding to obtain a sweat, and it resolves. — Gobang 古方 (Donguibogam · Han, lower)

Clinical commentary 臨床

A single drug and a four-day window, which is the most clinically interesting thing in the yin-yang-exchange group: the Bogam's sources believed this pattern was treatable only at the outset and lost after that, and the urgency shapes the prescription. Dried ginger alone, hot and acrid, to force a sweat and warm an interior that has gone cold — and the sign of success is the limbs straightening, which tells you the drawn-up posture was the main presenting feature. The second method raises the dose to a nyang in powder and adds bedding, which is the same idea pushed harder. A real formula, unlike most of its neighbours here. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
