Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治大寒犯腦, 令人腦痛齒亦痛, 名曰腦風. 麻黃ㆍ附子ㆍ防風ㆍ白芷ㆍ白殭蠶(炒) 各一錢, 黃栢ㆍ羌活ㆍ蒼朮 各七分, 黃芪ㆍ升麻ㆍ甘草(灸) 各五分. 右剉, 作一貼, 食後水煎服. 《東垣》

Translation

Treats great cold offending the brain so that the head aches and the teeth ache too — named brain wind. Ephedra, aconite, saposhnikovia, angelica dahurica and silkworm (stir-fried) 1 don each; phellodendron, notopterygium and atractylodes lancea 7 pun each; astragalus, cimicifuga and licorice (mix-fried) 5 pun each. Cut up, make one packet, decoct in water and take after food. — Dongwon 東垣 (Donguibogam · Du)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The Teeth chapter's 4.11.1 sends the reader here, and the two chapters treat the same cold from opposite ends. 腦風 is 1.29's section, where the Suwen puts the cold at the nape and has it run up into the skull. **Contains aconite, which is toxic.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
