Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治崩漏, 多因心氣所使而下. 故貴奪勢, 先富後貧, 皆是也. 香附米(炒)ㆍ當歸身ㆍ白芍藥(酒炒)ㆍ熟地黃ㆍ白朮各一錢, 川芎ㆍ黃芪ㆍ蒲黃(炒)ㆍ地楡ㆍ人參各五分, 升麻三分. 右剉, 作一貼, 煎服. 《正傳》

Translation

Treats flooding and spotting, which mostly descends at the direction of the Heart Qi — one once noble whose power has been taken away, one once rich and afterward poor: these are all such cases. Dry-fried rice-grade cyperus, angelica body, wine-fried white peony, prepared rehmannia, and white atractylodes, 1 don each; cnidium, astragalus, dry-fried cattail pollen, sanguisorba, and ginseng, 5 fun each; cimicifuga 3 fun. Clinical commentary 臨床

The formula written for Dongyuan's second cause of flooding — the patient whose bleeding follows a reversal of fortune, who looks well and whose pulse says little. Its name states the strategy: open what is bound before doing anything else. Cyperus and angelica lead, the Four Substances rebuild, astragalus and cimicifuga lift what has sunk, and cattail pollen and sanguisorba hold the line.
