Clinical commentary 臨床

The observation in the indication is unusually specific — a lump in the right flank standing like a taut cord, which hurts when it meets cold. Eighteen herbs answer it on three fronts at once: cyperus and the Qi-movers for the stagnation, sparganium and curcuma for the mass, and barley sprout and medicated leaven because the chapter reads a postpartum flank mass as partly a matter of food that has not moved. The Four Substances underneath keep all that moving from emptying a woman who has just given birth. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
