淸胃養脾湯

The transcription writes 𤍠, normalized to 熱 per the house table. The gypsum is five times the weight of every other drug in the packet, which is as the leaf prints it. This formula and 治喫泥方 are the two leaves the 1.42 section head names for 愛喫泥土, and they stand next to each other at 036b and 037a.

Cut the above up into one packet, decoct in water, and take it from time to time. — Manbyeong Hoechun 回春 (Donguibogam · Soa)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Gypsum at 1 don against 2 fun each of tangerine peel, atractylodes, red poria, liquorice and scutellaria: a small clearing decoction in which one cooling mineral carries five supporting drugs, given for a single behaviour rather than for a mass. There is nothing hazardous in it. The behaviour is the interesting part, and the full note on it is on 治喫泥方 (chikkikni-bang), the leaf that follows this one — geophagy is pica, pica is a classic sign of iron deficiency, and eating earth is in turn a route for lead and for the roundworm of 1.38.4 蛔疳. Read that note with this entry. What this decoction can be said for is that the chapter put the behaviour down to something in the child rather than to naughtiness, and reached for a cooling, supplementing formula instead of a purgative — which is more than can be said for the leaf next door. What it cannot do is supply iron. A child who eats earth needs a full blood count and a ferritin, iron replacement, a stool examination for ova, and in many settings a blood lead level; gypsum is calcium sulfate and does none of that. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
