Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治經水不及期而來, 乃血虛有熱. 當歸一錢半, 生乾地黃ㆍ條芩ㆍ香附子各一錢, 白芍藥ㆍ黃連(薑汁炒) 各八分, 川芎ㆍ阿膠珠ㆍ黃柏ㆍ知母各五分, 艾葉ㆍ甘草各三分. 右剉, 作一貼, 煎服. 《醫鑑》

Translation

Treats menses that come before their term, which is blood vacuity with heat. Angelica 1.5 don; dried fresh rehmannia, slender scutellaria and cyperus 1 don each; white peony and coptis (ginger-juice fried) 8 pun each; chuanxiong, ass-hide glue beads, phellodendron and anemarrhena 5 pun each; mugwort leaf and licorice 3 pun each. Cut up, make one packet, decoct and take. — Gogeum Uigam 醫鑑 (Donguibogam · Po)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Samul-tang with the three yellows and anemarrhena added — the chapter's answer to a short cycle, which it reads as heat driving blood out early. 不及期而來, coming before the term, is the Donguibogam's standard phrase for a cycle under the expected length.
