Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治聲音不淸. 與上訶子散同, 但桔梗生用, 木通半生半炒. 《醫鑑》

Translation

Treats an unclear voice. The same as Chebula Powder above, except that the platycodon is used raw and the akebia half raw and half fried. — Gogeum Uigam 醫鑑 (Donguibogam · Seongeum)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The same four medicinals with the processing moved one step: raw platycodon to work higher, and the akebia split instead. The Uigam prints it as a separate formula on that difference alone, which is how carefully the tradition read 生 against 炒. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
