Translation

Treats sores arising on mouth and tongue and foul breath. Glauberite 2 nyang 5 don; borax 5 don; saltpetre crystal 1 don; borneol and musk 5 pun each. Powder them; steep 5 don of licorice, boil the liquid down to a paste and bind with it into pills the size of a fox-nut, to be held in the mouth and the juice swallowed — or take the powder and dust it on. — Jikji 直指 (Donguibogam · Guseol)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Borax and borneol in a licorice lozenge. Borax is mildly antiseptic and the tradition uses it in almost every mouth and throat preparation it has; 3.32's topical powders are built on it. **Musk is from a CITES-listed species.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
