Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治臍腹冷痛, 或泄瀉. 陳艾葉ㆍ蛇床子各一兩, 木鱉子二箇(帶殼生用). 右爲末, 和勻, 用綿包裹, 安在臍上, 以紙圈圍定, 以熨斗火熨之爲妙. 《醫林》

Translation

Treats cold pain of navel and abdomen, or diarrhoea. Aged mugwort leaf and cnidium seed 1 nyang each; momordica seed 2, with the shell, used raw. Powder them, mix evenly, wrap in cotton wool and set it on the navel, ring it round with paper to hold it, and iron it with the fire of a flat-iron — excellent. — Uirim 醫林 (Donguibogam · Je)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Ironed rather than moxaed — the heat comes from a flat-iron held above the packet, which is steadier than a cone and easier on a child. The Urine chapter's 1.10 used the same tool on a scallion pack for retention. **Momordica seed is toxic.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
