The Bogam carries three different formulas under the name 茯苓半夏湯: the two-drug Seonmyeong formula of the Phlegm chapter, the Hoechun formula at 嘔吐 2.3, and this Dongwon one. They share a name and nothing else. 覊絆 is the transcription's reading here and at the head of the section; the three formula leaves that follow write 覇絆 for the same word.

Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治風痰覊絆於脾胃之間, 惡心欲吐, 宜實脾土. 麥芽(炒) 一錢半, 白朮ㆍ白茯苓ㆍ半夏ㆍ神麴(炒) 各一錢三分, 橘紅ㆍ天麻各一錢. 右剉, 作一貼, 爲麄末, 薑五, 水煎服. 《東垣》

Translation

Treats wind phlegm tethered between spleen and stomach, with nausea and the urge to vomit; the spleen earth should be made substantial. Dry-fried barley sprout, 1 don 5 fun; white atractylodes, white poria, pinellia and dry-fried medicated leaven, 1 don 3 fun each; red tangerine peel and gastrodia, 1 don each. Cut up, make one packet, grind coarsely, and decoct with five slices of ginger. — Dongwon 東垣 (Donguibogam · Guto)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The first of the four formulas for 食痺, and the one that names its own method: 宜實脾土, the spleen earth should be made substantial. Gastrodia is the drug that marks it as a wind formula — it is the tradition's drug for wind that stirs internally — and the two leavens and the barley sprout are there because what the spleen cannot manage is food. 風痰覊絆, wind phlegm tethered in the middle, with nausea and a stringlike pulse, is the pattern the chapter calls 肝勝于脾, the liver overcoming the spleen.
