Translation
Treats qi vacuity with a floating soft pulse and vexing heat at no fixed hour. Astragalus 2 don; ginseng, ophiopogon, platycodon and licorice 1 don each. Cut up, add 3 slices of ginger, decoct and take. — Uihak Jeongjeon 正傳 (Donguibogam · Maek)
Clinical commentary 臨床
Five medicinals, and the clearest example of the chapter's premise: the pulse is the indication. A floating soft pulse with heat that comes and goes is read as qi too weak to hold the surface, and treated by supplementing rather than cooling. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
