Translation

Treats tetany arising from sweating induced excessively. Saposhnikovia, tangkuei, chuanxiong and raw rehmannia, 2 don 5 fun each. Cut up, make one packet and decoct in water. — Uihak Jeongjeon 正傳 (Donguibogam · Pung)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Four drugs in equal measure, and the only difference from the Haejang's postpartum version is raw rehmannia for cooked — which is exactly the right adjustment, since a patient dried out by induced sweating needs fluid replaced rather than blood built. The aetiology is again iatrogenic, as with Baekchul-bangpung-tang, and the two entries together make the section's quiet point: a good deal of the tetany these physicians saw was their own sweating method. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
