Clinical commentary 臨床

The name means to stand at ease, which is what a person with a wrenched back cannot do. What distinguishes this from the other strain formulas is the morning glory seed at the head — a purgative, taken in its first-ground powder and half raw — which marks this as the version for a strain that has left the patient bound and blocked rather than merely sore. The chapter's reading is that a wrench can stall the Qi as well as tear the sinew, and that the stalled Qi needs a way out. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
