Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治言語多損氣, 氣少懶語, 能補上益氣. 人參ㆍ麥門冬各七錢, 橘皮ㆍ䓀莄ㆍ甘草(灸) 各五錢, 五味子二十一粒. 右極細末, 水浸油餠和丸芡實大, 每一丸, 細嚼, 津涶嚥下. 油餠, 乃和油燒餠也. 《回春》《易老》

Translation

Treats much speaking damaging the qi, so that the qi is scant and one is reluctant to talk; it can supplement the upper and boost the qi. Ginseng and ophiopogon 7 don each; tangerine peel, platycodon and licorice (mix-fried) 5 don each; schisandra twenty-one seeds. Powder very finely, bind with an oil cake soaked in water into pills the size of a euryale seed, and take one at a time, chewed fine and swallowed with the saliva. Clinical commentary 臨床

A lozenge for the voice — ginseng, ophiopogon and schisandra are Saengmaek-san, with platycodon for the throat and a cake to hold it together. 細嚼, 津涶嚥下: chewed slowly and swallowed with the saliva, so the throat is coated on the way down. 言語多損氣 — much speaking damages the qi — is the chapter's diagnosis for the teacher, the priest and the singer, and the Hoechun gives them something to keep in the mouth. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
