The Minor Bupleurum Decoction is also called Hwahae-san. If a pinch of black soybean is added and it is decocted, it is called Hwasa-tang. — Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Han)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The Minor Bupleurum Decoction with a pinch of black soybean, and that pinch earns the formula a name of its own — which is how much weight the corpus gives to a single addition. Black soybean is the Fire chapter's own general antidote, the head of 甘豆湯, so adding it turns a harmonizing formula against heat toxin. The base formula also carries two other names in the Bogam, 三禁湯 and 和解散, the first for the three things it forbids — sweating, purging and promoting urine. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
