Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治孕婦感寒, 寒熱如瘧. 柴胡 四錢, 黃芩ㆍ人參ㆍ甘草 各一錢. 右剉, 作一貼, 水煎溫服. 《得效》

Translation

Treats a pregnant woman who has contracted cold, with chills and fever like malaria. Bupleurum 4 don; scutellaria, ginseng, and licorice, 1 don each. Cut the above, make one packet, decoct in water and take warm. — Deukhyo 得效 (Donguibogam · Buin)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Minor Bupleurum with the pinellia and ginger removed — which is precisely the adaptation a pregnant patient calls for, since those are the warming, downward-moving members of the original. What remains is the hinge-coursing core at four don of bupleurum: enough to open the alternating pattern, with nothing left in it that pushes. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
