Clinical commentary 臨床

Zhongjing's formula for a specific iatrogenic problem: the patient has been sweated, the fever has gone, and now the belly is tight and full. That is a middle burner whose qi has been scattered by the sweating, and the answer is magnolia bark at double the next weight to bring it down, with ginseng to replace what was lost and seven slices of ginger — more than the usual three — to warm what has been emptied. Five drugs for a complaint that follows treatment rather than disease, which is the sort of entry that shows a tradition watching its own results. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
