Translation

Treats stiffness and tension of the head and nape, tense sinews, or a neck wrenched by the pillow (挫枕) so that it cannot be turned. Take Oyaksungi-san 烏藥順氣散, add notopterygium, aralia and Chinese quince, decoct in water and take. — Uigam 醫鑑 (Donguibogam · Gyeonghang)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The name says what it does: the powder that lets you turn your head again. The indication 挫枕 — a neck wrenched by the pillow — is the everyday acute wry neck that a patient wakes up with, and this is the chapter's designated formula for it. The construction is transparent: Oyaksungi-san as the wind-coursing base, plus notopterygium to reach the greater yang of the nape, aralia to reach deeper, and Chinese quince to relax the sinew that is holding the head sideways. The full composition is listed here for convenience; the base formula has its own page. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
