Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治濕熱, 散鬱止痛. 蒼朮二兩, 便香附子一兩半, 黃連ㆍ黃芩各五錢. 右爲末, 取紅熟瓜蔞, 去皮同搗, 丸如菉豆大, 溫水下三五十丸. 一方, 蒸餠和丸, 薑湯下. 《入門》

Translation

Treats damp heat, scatters depression and stops pain. Atractylodes lancea 2 nyang; cyperus (child-urine processed) 1 nyang 5 don; coptis and scutellaria 5 don each. Powder them, take a red ripe trichosanthes fruit, peel it and pound it in, and make pills the size of a mung bean, thirty to fifty taken with warm water. Another version binds with steamed cake and sends down with ginger decoction. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Gi)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Danxi's Yueguk-hwan cut to four — atractylodes and cyperus for the damp and the qi, the two yellows for the heat — and bound with a whole trichosanthes fruit, which is itself cold and moistening. The one formula in 4.21 that cools rather than warms. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
