Translation

Treats qi cramping between the waist and abdomen with pain so that one cannot bend or stretch, past bearing, with sweat pouring as though washed, the hands and feet ice cold, and the patient near death. Gardenia 49, skins left on, half burnt; one large aconite, blast-fried with the skin and navel removed. Grind coarse and take 3 don at a time in a jan of water with half a jan of wine, decocted down to seven parts, with a little salt added. — Seui Deukhyobang 得效 (Donguibogam · Hyung)

Clinical commentary 臨床

自汗如洗, 手足氷冷 — sweating as though washed, hands and feet ice cold. Shock with severe pain, and the Deukhyo's two medicinals treat the two halves of it at once: gardenia for what is burning and aconite for what is failing. **Contains aconite, which is toxic.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
