Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治衝任經虛, 崩漏不止, 臍腹冷痛. 川芎ㆍ艾葉各一錢半, 伏龍肝一錢, 赤石脂ㆍ麥門冬各七分, 當歸ㆍ乾薑ㆍ熟地黃ㆍ肉桂ㆍ甘草各五分. 右剉, 作一貼, 入棗二枚, 煎服. 或爲末, 米飮調二錢服. 《入門》

Translation

Treats vacuity of the Penetrating and Conception vessels with unceasing flooding and spotting, and cold pain of the navel and abdomen. Cnidium and mugwort leaf, 1.5 don each; oven earth 1 don; halloysite and ophiopogon, 7 fun each; Korean angelica, dried ginger, prepared rehmannia, cinnamon bark, and licorice, 5 fun each. Cut the above, make one packet, add 2 jujubes, decoct and take; or powder it and take 2 don stirred into thin rice water. — Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Po)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Oven earth — the baked clay from beneath a cooking stove, years of fire held in it — is the chapter's emblem for warmth that stays put, and here it anchors a formula for bleeding from a cold, empty foundation.
