Translation

Treats water distension. In any distension disease with abdominal fullness and a dry mouth and tongue, there is water qi between the intestines and stomach. Stephania, zanthoxylum seed, lepidium seed (stir-fried) and rhubarb 1 nyang each. Powder them and make honey pills the size of a firmiana seed; take ten down with plain hot water, three times a day. — Junggyeong 仲景 (Donguibogam · Changman)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Zhongjing's Jiwu Jiaoli Huang Wan, and the indication states the diagnostic sign plainly: abdominal fullness with a dry mouth and tongue. Thirst in a patient full of water is the paradox that identifies the pattern — the fluid is in the wrong compartment and none of it reaches the tissues that need it. **Contains rhubarb and lepidium. Not suitable for self-administration; ascites requires medical diagnosis.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
